Who SHOULD receive the COVID vaccine?

  • All children age 6 months through 23 months, since they are at high risk for severe COVID and hospitalization.

  • Children and teens age 2 years through 18 years with these risk factors:

    • Health conditions that increase their risk of severe COVID
    • Living in long-term care facilities or other group settings

    • Never having been vaccinated against COVID
    • Having household contacts who are at high risk for severe COVID

Who CAN receive the COVID vaccine?

  • Children age 2 through 18 years without risk factors can get a single dose of the updated COVID vaccine. Talk with your pediatrician.
The COVID vaccine can safely be given at the same time as all other routine immunizations, including Flu and RSV immunizations.

We are not aware that Pfizer plans to release an updated COVID product, so we will only have the Moderna brand mRNA vaccine called SPIKEVAX.  If your child has completed any previous COVID primary series, then they will only need 1 dose of the Moderna vaccine. If they have not, then they will generally need 2 doses.

*Please send a message via the patient portal if you would like to schedule a nurse visit for the COVID vaccine.*
